About Us

Our Mission: To point single mothers to the Creator of the Universe, the "Source" of all power, strength and true success. To nurture, support, educate, and train them in the art of peer support, and assist them in achieving financial independence and all around excellence in their lives. All around excellence includes connecting to resources in a timely manner--according to needs--striving toward sexual purity, integrity and a drug-free and healthier lifestyle. Please read about our goals, objectives and more here.

Women as Single Parents Organization is a "Green" company and was founded by Rosita P. Antonio, Fashion & Fragrance Designer, Entrepreneur and Author, on March 8, 2003, as a church ministry at the Campus Hill Church on the campus of Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, of Southern California, in North America. Since then it has continued to grow from a handful of women from a few different counties in Southern California to mothers from approximately 12 states across America and countries such as Canada, Puerto Rico, England, Zimbabwe, and other countries in Africa!

In May, 2007 we were incorporated as Women as Single Parents Inc., a nonprofit corporation and on August 5, 2009 we obtained our 501 (c) (3) tax exemption status. We are a Christ-centered, professional, membership-only organization which will be a one-stop safe haven where single mothers of all single mother categories, who happen to be business owners and career professionals--or who would like to be--will be able to network and find the support and assistance they need to become completely self-sufficient and successful.

When we say we are a "Green" company we are saying that we promote healthy lifestyles,  products and everything that pertains to life itself! While we are a company that supports single mothers, we do not promote single motherhood, but rather,  we promote the family system God originally created and ordained, the family that consists of father, mother and children. This includes our being a "Green" company,  because to us "Green" is equated with GOOD HEALTH! So we promote good health  in every area of a single mother's life, and want to attract those single mothers who are looking for support in leading an all around healthy lifestyle.

Women as Single Parents Inc. is also known as W-S-P Organization, does business as WSP Inc, and is affectionately known as "WSP" which is pronounced as "wasp".

We want women everywhere to know that WSP is here for them. Right now you may be single or happily married. We want you all to know that we are here to support mothers who are in good marriages,  and will be here for those of you who may become a single mother in the future, for whatever reason, please remember that, and please do not hesitate to contact us if that time ever comes or if you would like to support us now as a WSP Partner!

When Rosita became a single mother, in 1995, she was caring for her dying mother and raising two beautiful daughters with disabilities. She knows how important it is to find help that "won't cause you grief," and knows how hard it was back then, to find any help at all for a single mother who happened to either be a business woman or an ambitious woman who is motivated to working hard to care for her children, and live a life of dignity and independence at the same time. She said she told the Lord that she wanted to be a part of the solution, instead of being just another statistic. That's when she began writing a program that would help single mothers and their children to succeed. "It's a long journey, but I believe it will be worth it," she said. She also said that she'd like to leave a legacy, after she's gone; a "legacy of compassion" to single mothers and their children to be remembered by.

In the past we have held seminars, workshops, monthly luncheons and a conference. Today, while our main focus is networking and connecting our single mother members with the help they need within their local area, which could be local community help agencies or businesses according to the need of the mother, we do want to regain an important community presence.

Oftentimes, we find that when we contact a local agency on behalf of the single mother, she is more likely to be connected with the help that she needs than if she tried to obtain help on her own. The community agencies or companies are usually quite impressed that an organization from so far away was willing to assist a single mother and her family in this way!

Today, mothers qualify to become a member when she is also willing to help establish a networking group in her local vicinity so that she can obtain the support she deserves right where she lives!  We encourage our members to form the networking groups in their communities to make our programs available that can also be customized to the needs of single mothers and their children in their part of the world. While we do give temporary financial assistance--funds permitting--because we're in the process of exploring different funding avenues--our funding foundations are not yet fully established, so, our giving capacity is currently limited. We depend solely on donated funds, and this is in the process of changing!

For the sake of our members who want to start a business we are in the process of teaming up with companies who will provide financial investors and business support to help our members achieve the financial independence they seek.

Our dream is to re-invent Women as Single Parents Inc. as the company Rosita envisioned and wished was there when she became a single mother back in 1995, a company that helps single mothers with start-up funding, a company that comes alongside single mothers to fulfill that dream of financial independence that having products on the market can make possible. We want to realize our mission, and this vision and dream for Women as Single Parents Inc., AND WITH YOUR SUPPORT WE WILL!!!

When they are established in communities, our local WSPNGs, WSPSuccess Centres and this website will be places to bring new meaning to the lives of single mothers everywhere. We invite religious entities, educational campuses, places of business and community help organizations and agencies to partner with us and become avenues through which single mothers in your communities may establish a WSP Network that will enhance their lives and complement their existence. Contact us to learn more.

With more than 12 million single mothers in America alone--and apparently the true figure is more like 100 million--raising more than 24 million children, we've got an amazing and intrinsic network full of possibilities.

The WSP Definition of a Single Mother

Any woman--mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, female cousin or friend--who has or has had the sole responsibility for a child under the age of 18, and in some countries, under the age of 21. A "Teen" Single Mother is a teenage girl--ages 13 to 19--who has never been married. If she was married, even though she is a teenager, she would fit into one of the existing categories below.

  • Widowed Single Mother
  • Divorced Single Mother
  • Separated Single Mother
  • Married Single Mother
  • Remarried Single Mother
  • Single-Never-Married Mother
  • Adoptive Single Mother
  • Foster Single Mother
  • Military Wife
  • Military Single Mother
  • Single Parent GrandMother
  • Single Mother Aunt
  • Single Parent Sibling (Sister)
  • Teen Single Mother
  • Incarcerated Single Mother
  • Released Single Mother
  • "Empty Nest" Single Mother

Though Military wives and married women have husbands, many of these husbands are sometimes emotionally, mentally, spiritually or geographically unavailable to their families. Oftentimes, these mothers must be the sole support and/or spiritual guide for their children. The Remarried Single Mother is also included in this category, as she does not always have the support of her new husband in bringing up her children. The step-mother bringing up the children of her new husband, also deserves support where ever she can find it. We are here for her too.

The Remarried mother is a mother who was widowed or divorced and remarried someone else. A remarried single mother could also be a mother who remarried the husband she was divorced from, and has decided to remarry him because he has changed, shows it and deserves a second chance. This is encouraged for the emotional health of the whole family!

Around the world there are now children bringing up their siblings, especially in the countries of Africa where many children have lost their parents to AIDS or war, and Haiti, where AIDS and the huge earthquake which occurred many years ago that took the lives of so many parents. We would like to support single mothers in disaster-hit areas in whatever way we can with the help of community agencies, kind individuals and companies.

Grandmothers and Aunts also deserve support and encouragement in bringing up or assisting in the rearing of their grandchildren/nieces or nephews.

**Teen mothers also need our support and WSP would like to include them in programs and a network especially for them.

An "Empty Nest" single mother is a mother who now lives alone because her children are now grown and moved away, married, been taken away from her or are deceased. She too deserves support to attain all-around excellence in her life, and delayed dreams, and is welcome to join our networking organization, by forming a group in her area.

A few years ago we learned that there were approximately 30,000 single mothers serving in the United States Military! We  also learned of a single mother who was going to be deployed and had no where or no one to leave her few months old baby with. This we found to be a heartbreaking story!!! Our desire is to have the facilities and connections to give these types of mothers the support they need so they do not have to worry about their precious children. These Military single mothers deserve our support in every way necessary. We are in the process of setting up a special program to accommodate this single mother category.

The incarcerated or just released single mother also need encouragement and positive connections that will ensure that they steer clear of the situations that caused serious challenges for them in the first place! Let us keep these women in our special prayers and positive thoughts, since they will also need special assistance when they are released from jail/prison, to pursue a life of all-around excellence without any negative distractions.

**Please note: Teenage single mothers who would like to join our organization would also need to belong to a special Guardianship Program. For more information about this program please contact us.

Whether you receive financial support or minor assistance from the father of your children, people or other sources, we admire your "staying" power, salute your independence and acknowledge your struggles!!! WSP IS HERE FOR YOU!!!
